The dice roll round
Within my head
Random numbers
To my mind fed
Find conclusions
To ease my pain
What the fuck’s wrong
With my warp’d brain
I see things green
You see things blue
We can’t agree
What do we do?
My up’s your down
Your down’s my up
Half full, empty
Which is this cup?
I see them there
Wee eleven men
They play croquet
At half past ten
And drink a lot
Till bellies pop
And laugh and goose
When does it stop?
Tell me right now
You can not see
These little men
That tickle me?
They lift me up
Hoist me about
And twirl me round
And scream and shout
They dress me up
In gowns that glow
In my panties
They stick some snow
My teeth chatter
And I soon dance
Cry to heavens
“Bring back my pants!”
And that is why
I’m such a mess
Here in the snow
In lady’s dress
I see you dial
Your old cell phone
Whimper a bit
And then you moan
And soon a truck
Comes up the street
A man with net
I’m forced to meet
He drives me off
Into the night
In pearls and sequins
I’m such a sight!
He locks me in
A padded room
I simply smile
And say boom boom
The elves sneak in
Right through the bars
Dance the conga
Like movie stars
Then I lie there
On rubber floor
They sing me sane
I cry for more
The drugs kick in
As I drift ‘way
G’night you nuts
Oh happy day!

Ha.
So I do laugh
And I do sing
And wave my arms
So carelessly
A drunk monkey
Just a hootin
And hollerin
And juggling
Balls in the air
Whistling Dixie
You do see me
An inner tube
Is what I wear
Shiny pink hat
Blue sunglasses
And a big…smile
I catch you smirk
You hide your face
You say you’re shy
I hear your noise
I run to you
And tickle you
And call you bitch
You giggle some
And kiss my nose
Call me monkey
Call me crazy
Crazy for you
I just don’t know
Oh but I do
Put on my show
My magick tricks
Many rabbits
Pop ev’rywhere
And bounce and dance
Tophats and tails
I do the hula
In lemongrass dress
Toot my wee horn
You clap a bit
And come to me
Now take my hand
Let’s find happy
In silly skies
And loony lakes
And way up high
In crazy space
Ride the wild waves
Of our laughter
Ha!

Tap! Tap! Tap!
I tap tap tap
Glass of my life
Tap to explore
Tap to end strife
Tap to find love
Tap to find hate
Always tap early
Never tap late
Tap over here
Find a surprise
Tap over there
Will it be wise?
Lots of windows
And many rooms
Wide open spaces
And empty looms
Tap for the click
Tap for the thrill
Tap for the way
Tap for the will
Tap on some paint
Color my eyes
Tap to find truth
Amidst the lies
Tap it send it
Upon the air
Show them my love
How much I care
Tap till fingers
Bloody and blue
Hurt from tapping
What do I do?
Soak them in dew
Rinse them all off
You then make fun
Laugh and you scoff
“Your fingers tap,”
You gasp and grin,
“When does it end
Real life begin?”
Wipe off my hands
I look at you
But this is life
What can I do?
But tap my world
Through thickn’d glass
Make my own sky
Make my own grass
Life in my mind’s
What life’s about
You don’t like it
Tap you right out!
So I tap out
My cozy own place
Bid you goodbye
Off with your face!
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Glass of my life
Tap to explore
Tap to end strife
Tap to find love
Tap to find hate
Always tap early
Never tap late
Tap over here

dirty breeze
Dirty breeze
Smog floats
Above the city
Like a monster
Just licking its chops
And traffic it flows
Here and there
Up and down hills
Round and round in circles
And there’s beeping
And sirens always sirens
The sound of roaring motors
And crashing cars
And buildings on top of buildings
Battle for ground space
And try to reach high
Just to tap the sky
I can hear my neighbors yell
As I sit at my favorite spot
On the old rusty fire escape
Dogs bark and children laugh
And I can see my mother
Out the window
Hanging her laundry
Shirts sheets pants
And she hums to herself
A happy little song
Whilst back in the back of somewhere
I can hear a faint scream
And father is watching television
Some kind of game
With crowds cheering whistles blowing
And him swearing as if they could hear
The air feels a little cool
On this crisp early spring day
With the smell of the promise of summer
Tickling my little nose
And I look at the beat up cars
All parked below along the street
The stray cats jumping from trash can to trash can
A curly headed girl playing hopscotch
And over in a dark corner
Some teens huddle together
Smoke rising above them
I can smell the burning
Sometimes late at night
When everyone’s asleep
I’ll sneak back out here
Just to feel the city at night
And sometimes a few times at least
I’ll hear the shot of a gun
And more screaming tires skidding
A cold chill rips up my back
As I look up into the smog
I know without a doubt
That some day before I’m old
It will devour us all.

in my nose
Oh in my nose there is a place
So concealed by the hair and face
Where little nudkins run and race
And carry on and they take up space!
In slick black tails and big top hats
Flutter about like dingybats
Blow their horns to scare off the cats
They tap their dance though they wear flats!
They whistle in the wind so free
Buzz and blip like a bumblebee
Twang their tongues what a sight to see
They clap their hands and cry with glee!
“Oh we’re the little nudkin men
Been in here since oh God knows when
We’ll sing our song and honk again
Like an old goose or pecking hen!
We pop our corks then splash about
Tickle the nose oh let us out
Cause if you don’t we’ll surely shout
Exercise power show our clout!
We’ll climb into your noodle brain
Drum our drums make you so insane
Soon you’ll sneeze and you’ll feel the pain
Shake your head and then shake again!”
And soon you hear their little show
Now you get it you’re in the know
Take a hanky you start to blow
So hard and fast and out they go!
So concealed by the hair and face
Where little nudkins run and race
And carry on and they take up space!
In slick black tails and big top hats
Flutter about like dingybats
Blow their horns to scare off the cats

The Beginning of a Perfectly Sunny Day
Somehow
She lifts her head up
And shakes around her hair
And carefully she reaches round her bed
To a window shade and opens it
And she lets all the light of the morning flood in
She blinks as she looks around the room
All the lovely flowers she has accumulated
Pink…red…blue…and purple
Purple was her favorite
And she grabs a purple flower
Gently plucks it from its stem
And fastens it carefully to her free flowing hair
And she rises from her bed
And she stretches and yawns
And she loosens up her limbs
As she heads to the closet
To pick out a lovely spring ensemble
Perhaps the white and dress
With all the frilly lace
So innocent and so charming
As if she were still a little girl
She giggles as she puts it on
And she grabs some purple jellies
And places them on her feet
As if she were Cinderella
With her glass slippers
Going to a big splashy ball
She finds her wide-brimmed lavender hat
And tosses it playfully onto her head
And again she giggles
And she looks in the mirror
And does a little hoppy dance
Around the room
She hoists herself back up on her bed
Stands upright
Looks out the window
Into the bright sunshine
And blinks again
And takes a flying leap
Off of the bed
And onto the floor
Wheeeeeeee!!!
She skips over to her bedroom door
Carefully opens it so as not to squeak
And she walks out into the hallway
To see a row of people standing
On either side of her
All dressed in black
And wearing somber faces
Some are weeping into tissues
Faces she know so well
Mother father siblings
All kinds of family
And friends so many friends are there
And teachers and neighbors
And the people she’s worked with
Over all the years
All the faces that have made up
The collage of her life
And she walks down the hallway
And looks at them all rather strangely
As they don’t even try to speak
Or even look her way
Whatever could be wrong
On this perfectly sunny day?
And she starts to whistle
And starts skipping to the door
At the long hallway’s end
She could see the sunlight
Peeping through the cracks
Inviting her to explore the other side
Won’t you come play with us?
And she opens the door quickly
And the sun surrounds her
Bathing her in a bright orange glow
Swirling around her twirling her hair
Lifting her way up into the air
The flower from her hair falls out
And it lands on the sidewalk
As she is carried off into the wind
Giggling all the way
Wheeeeeee!!!
She lifts her head up
